"So the ghost-children marched down the valley and fell into the abyss. Their passage was brief. And their ghost-song or its echo, which is almost to say the echo of nothingness, went on marching, I could hear it marching on at the same pace, the pace of courage and generosity. A barely audible song, a song of war and love, because although the children were clearly marching to war, the way they marched recalled the superb, theatrical attitudes of love."

THE ENCLAVE VI: THE FESTIVAL OF BLIND WHITE GUT-LICKING RAGE

"When I think of this city where I was born and raised, this Manhattan that Whitman sang of, a blind, white rage licks my guts. New York! The white prisons, the sidewalks swarming with maggots, the breadlines, the opium joints that are built like palaces, the kikes that are there, the lepers, the thugs, and above all, the ennui, the monotony of faces, streets, legs, houses, skyscrapers, meals, posters, jobs, crimes, loves. A whole city erected over a hollow pit of nothingness. Meaningless. Absolutely meaningless. And Forty-second Street! The top of the world, they call it. Where's the bottom then?"

THE ENCLAVE RETURNS

Hey everyone,

So the Enclave is ready to kick off our fall season next week. Our reading is the opening weekend as Kenny's 2 week 40th anniversary extravaganza. Keep checking www.kennyscastaways.net for more details. There are already some great bands booked Friday and Saturday and also more coming up the following weekend. So consider altering your plans and moving into Kenny's for a few nights of rocknroll/intellectual discourse. We'll certainly all be there.

Also The Enclave is currently looking for readers to fill a number of slots we have open for the fall. My apologies to those who have emailed us queries, whom we haven't gotten back to. Just been really busy recently. If you are interested in reading come on by the 29th and introduce yourself. Bring an excerpt of your work too. Or if you absolutely can't make it you can email us a sample as well.

Anyway, check us out on the 29th. We're really psyched to be off the road and back on track. Hope to see you all at this much anticipated kick -off festivity.

Regards,

The Enclave Writers Association
